It does. Also looks a long way off from being production ready though.

Shame you can't checkout with javascript disabled. Seems to be using that Zend Framework, is it going to be worth learning?

See this annoys me a bit... Particularly with something like e-commerce, you cant afford to let a project out to the public before its ready. Its just too risky. That having been said, it does look like some day it might be quite good... Although they will need to get rid of the requirement for javascript, though... Noone in their right mind is going to implement this with that requirement for anyone to actually make a purchse... Its crazy.

Use the "NoScript" extension for firefox for a few days, perhaps even a week, you will be totally stopped in your tracks several times a day by poorly built websites.

Oh i know... Thats why I said "Noone in their right mind..."!

I've worked on projects before where I've had idiots above me in the chain of command making decisions that basically necessitate the use of javascript to make the site work... Every time I try to fight against it, explaining that its a horrible idea, siting various pieces of research etc, and every time (almost) i got ignored. Sometimes you just have to swallow your pride (and your principles) and go ahead and do it.

That being said, I know guys that would just have done it without any argument, even though they know better... To me, its your responsibility to at least try and educate your client, be that internal or external... You'll probably find that half the places built like that are done by people who know better but dont bother to fight to do things the right way, and the other half are done by people who are just a bit shit at their jobs.

Totally agree with you, I am a fan of unobtrusive degradable JavaScript, and understand totally why users will disable/block untrusted JavaScript content for various reasons. I use NoScript to get rid of annoying Google Ads and those flash banners that try to cover the viewport when all you want to do is read the article.

Nearly all browsers out there do support JavaScript, but you are right that developers should not assume they have it enabled, besides search engine spiders ignore JavaScript, so it doesn't do much good if they can't crawl the website effectively.

its still poor, to add a new product i have to go Catalogues>Manage Products, then scroll horizontally right half a screen (Im on 1680x1050) and click the add product button. I cant see what this offers above anything else? It doesnt even look that nice in the backend.

Did you invest in them or something?

(By the way, if you know them, tell the chick who does the voiceover on the tour video, she's sitting too close to the mic).

theming magento is a HUGE pain in the ass. it uses the most convoluted methods ever to do so.

Haven't had chance to actually use it, but have watched the tour video which does make it look impressive. I might give it a go for my next e-commerce site, I usually use cube cart though, or if it is a small site, just do it bespoke.
