Mate of mine has been offered 2 jobs one in dubai and one in amsterdam:

Dubai
Alright local company
Tax free and a pay rise of £2500
Free flight home
Months free accomodation
Free health insurance
Rent over there costs about 1/2 salary

Amsterdam
World class company
£3000 pay cut
Opportunity to move between offices around the world
would look mega on cv
Rent is alot cheaper
Would have to pay for health insurance

I said i'd stick it up on here to see which one you lot would pick the one which is shit pay but look great on a cv for future jobs or the one where the lifestyle is good but the company doesn't have the same rep.

I would say if you are free and single and only responsible for keeping yourself entertained take the EU job and build for the future.

Personally europe no contest, but hell even financially - depends just HOW much cheaper the rent is... that missing 3k might be a nothing really, dunno.

I vote Amsterdam.

Even though Dubai is safe and away from most of the Mideast turmoil, I'd still be wary of the region.

The other day, I saw an ad for a web developer job in sunny Baghdad, Iraq.

You couldn't pay me enough to go there.

I would say amsterdam.
Unless you know people in Dubai personally and have a history with them OR you're there with a company based somewhere else that just has an office there, as a low level employee, I would be very wary of going there. My dad used to work there for a bank, but he had connections to the royal family in Dubai, so we were ok (this was also 20-22 years ago). Also you can expect to be VERY restricted as to what kind of design you can get away with there.

Amsterdam or bust!
